Stereopsis in the albino patients
Iervolino G., Menna A.
Binocular vision and stereopsis in the albinos is studied. The results show an interesting independence among visual acuity, binocular vision and stereopsis. Particularly, the absolute absence of stereopsis in albino patients not connected to visual acuity or binocular vision is underlined. It is remar-ked by authors that stereopsis in the albinos is always absent since there is an anatomic alteration of visual pathway. The stereopsis absence is pathognomonic of this disease and it is useful in the screening of heterozygotic patients.
