The authors report a case of misdiagnosis of “compartment syndrome” occurred in a 25 year old man with polytrauma and multiple biosseus fractures of leg, caused by a road accident. The pathogenesis of the syndrome and some related risks of a delayed diagnosis, like muscular ischemia, are analyzed. The authors point out the aspects of professional liability related to this syndrome and, consequently, the opportunity of an early diagnosis.
