Occupational health and job insecurity: a working proposal

The study day of May 30, 2014 on the “Precariousness and Health” was based on the assumption that only a full understanding of the phenomenon of uncertainty can provide answers that must necessarily include several fields: economic policy, social policy and, consequently, health policy. After having, therefore, provided an economic (Guy Standing) and social policy (Marco Revelli) definition of precariousness, in the second part of the morning the psychological (Daniela Converso) and epidemiological (Angelo D’Errico) aspects of employment and job insecurity were questioned. Basically, what are the diseases resulting from the explosion in the work organization of the phenomenon, and what are the conditions at the individual, epidemiological level? Finally, the discussion moved on to the etiology of diseases potentially related to the stress of job insecurity (Laura Gianotti), the management of this problem by the competent doctor in occupational medicine (Alberto Swaps) and the consequences of medico-legal employment (Riccardo Falcetta) resulting from the radical change of the rules and management, considering a source law (the Constitution) which still has to preserve rights that are not yet available. Which conditions will be favorable? And, most importantly, what are the management proposals, from the point of view of the occupational medical examiner?
