Fillers in Aesthetic Surgery. Clinical news and problems of legal medicine

After having defined and classified the cutaneous aging process and the wrinkles that are a consequence of it, the authors present the notion of filler, its characteristics, injection techniques, implantation procedures, treatment evolution, contraindications and complications. Depending on the origin of the products (autogenic, allogenic, xenogenic, synthetic. an indication plan, technique, advantages and disadvantages for each product in use today is presented. The exquisitely surgical nature of filler treatment implies medico-legal observations on the information and choice of patients, on pre-operation consent and the related risks, and on the legal responsibility of the aesthetic surgeon in the event of failure or complications.
