Primary electrical diseases or channelo-pathies are inherited genetic alterations of the cell ionic and electrical behavior leading to various cardiac arrhythmias carrying the risk of sudden death. A descriptive review of the successively described channelopathies is made in this article, with emphasis on the clinical manifestations, the genetic background and the currently accepted therapeutic options.
