Vanek T., Soudek P., Tykva R.
Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Praha, Czech Republic
Background. The aim of this research is to study uptake of selected radionuclides by plants under hydroponic and aseptic conditions.
Methods. Accumulation of radionuclides in plants is measured using liquid-scintillation spectrometer and autoradiography.
Results. During 32 days 37% of 137Cs, 48% of 125I and 17% 63Ni starting activity was released from a liquid medium and accumulated in plant.
Conclusions. The results obtained prove the possibility of utilizing radiophytoremediation for practical application.
