Detection of T-cells expressing inhibitory NK-cell receptors within non-small-cell lung cancer tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. A flow cytometric analysis

Natural killer (NK) cell inhibitory receptors (INKR) have been described to be detectable both on NK cells and on a subset of normal human T-lymphocytes. To evaluate the frequency of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes expressing INKR in a group of samples derived from human non small cell lung cancer, a cytofluorimetric analysis was performed. Using this approach, it has been observed that T-cells expressing INKR are oligoclonal and express a memory phenotype on their surface. The frequency of INKR in TIL significantly differs from that observed in autologous peripheral blood samples. The presence of INKR positive cells could significantly interfere with adoptive immunotherapy protocols for the control of non small cell lung cancer spread.
