Acanthamoeba keratitis: a severe disease in contact lens wearers

Acanthamoeba keratitis is a rare corneal infectious disease that can cause severe complications in contact lens wearers. Its annual incidence is estimated of 1-2 cases for 1000000 contact lens wearers. Prognosis of this serious disease can be improve with an early diagnosis, a better understanding of the natural course of the disease, and the application of current typologies of treatments.
