During the last years macular surgery underwent a great evolution. Innovations in semeiology allow a good knowledge of macular diseases. Indications for macular surgery are increasing. New surgical techniques and new instrumentation allow a rapid, effective and less traumatic surgery. The most important aspects of macular surgery and some of the most common surgical procedures are described.
