Low vision in children in Abruzzo. An epidemiologic study
Rapinese M., Ciafrè M., Marsilio T., Cerulli A. M., Zulli A. M., Gallenga P. E.
Low vision aids improve the vision of children by reducing the handicapping effects of their visual impairement. The causes of low vision in children in Abruzzo are analyzed. Genetic factors were the major cause of low vision in children (43.1%). Visual aids alone do not guarantee success in the process of motivating the child to achieve school and social goals as a collaboration among the ophthalmologist, low vision trainer, psychologist, the child and his parents.
