High power multichannel diathermy treatment of a calcific De Quervain’s Tendinopathy in a tennis player: echographic evidence of the result

Female patient of 25 years old, tennis player, suffering of a calcific De Quervain’s tendinopathy not responder at previous infiltrative (cortisone and lidocaine) approach. The patient presented acute pain at the wrist and at the thumb , weakness in the prehension, hypo mobility during the adduction of the thumb. An cerographic exam was performed evidencing the presence of a calcification in the side of the thumb and a strong hypo-echoic pattern in the tendons parts. The patient was treated with high power multichannel diathermy by medium wave conducted radiofrequency medium wave diathermy high power. After 10 session an ecographyc was made with the evidence of a total disappearance of the calcification and a normal echoic pattern of the tendons side. Also the pain disappeared, a total recovery of the strength and of the range of movement was observed.
