Thrombosis of the venus succlavia and pulmonary embolia after seating lifting weights: case report
Carmine SINNO ✉
AMSD Matera, Matera, Italy
A case of exacerbated thrombosis of the subclavian vein complicated by pulmonary embolism in a young woman after some weightlifting sessions is described. After analyzing the etiology, the pathogenetic mechanisms, the diagnostic and therapeutic examinations of the case, two points are emphasized: the importance of the anamnesis in the search of the diagnosis, since the initial symptoms of the thrombosis of the upper limb and of the pulmonary embolism are often ambiguous and non-specific, and the fact that repeated exercise without adequate physical preparation and incorrect execution of the technical gesture can contribute to the onset of the syndrome.
