Lesion of collateral ligaments of the fingers: day-surgery treatment
Ortensi P., Iatrino F. M.
Reparto di Chirurgia Generale e d’Urgenza - Divisione Chirurgia della Mano - Ospedale «S. Spirito» - Roma
The article refers a common phatology typical of the sports actyvities so-called “violent” such as volleyball, basketball, skiing, rugby, motorcylling, boxing; on ice hockey also there is some incidence of traumatism of the hands. The lesion of the collateral legament might affect the long fingers both on the metacarpus-phalangeous and the proximal inter-phalanx articulations. This traumatic pathology may also be found on the metacarpus-phalangeous articulation of the thumb. An inadequate treatment of these lesions may leave considerable disabilities; the article therefore reports diagnostic and terapeutical criteria based on the use of splint and orthesis for the conservative treatment and surgical operations with the prevalent use of the pull-out technique with details of personal technique.
