The use of toothbrushes has significantly improved oral hygiene care ever since their invention. However proper brushing procedure, if not maintained, may result in severe injury to the oral cavity. Penetrating oropharyngeal trauma from toothbrushes is quite common. This is particularly found in children who tend to become very playful and careless while brushing. Trauma to orofacial region from during tooth brushing is quite rare in adult. The following case is that of an adult male who sustained a penetrating injury to the oral mucosa from a toothbrush. A detailed discussion regarding the types of injuries, treatment outline and possible complications are discussed here.
