A case of unusual large sized chondroid syringoma of benign nature involving face
Happykumar D. KAGATHARA ✉, Devkaran M. PATEL
Department of General Surgery, Mayur Trust Hospital, Morbi, India
Chondroid syringoma is a rare benign adnexal tumor of the skin with incidence rate of 0.01% to 0.098% of all primary skin tumors. It is composed of both mesenchymal and epithelial cells. This tumor develops as a solitary, slow-growing, painless nodule usually in the head and neck region. Because of its rarity and asymptomatic presentation, the clinician may miss the diagnosis. The confirmed diagnosis is based on the histopathologic examination. Chondroid syringoma varies from 0.5 to 3 cm in size, with increased risk of malignancy in tumors larger than 3.0 cm. Here we report a 20-year-old male with unusual large sized chondroid syringoma at left naso-labial region. The diagnosis of chondroid syringoma of benign nature was made by histopathological examination after complete excision. There was no sign of recurrence till date during one year follow-up.
