BACKGROUD: The aim of our research was to study the effectiveness of different variants of training process within a full-year conditioning cycle of junior female ski racers.
METHODS: The research was conducted using the complex of instructional, medical-biological, and psychological methods applied in the investigation of pedagogical focus and variability of the training process organization. Forty junior female skiers (aged 18-21) were divided into 2 equal groups. Group A followed the conventional training program, while group B was training in accordance with the experimental program.
RESULTS: A high level of sports skills of the female skiers was seen through the presented stable and variable parameters of the functional systems of the body. Planning of training programs determined the enhanced indicators of speed-strength training, general physical conditioning, and special physical conditioning. The functional capacity of the main systems of the body, such as aerobic capacity, increased. The training program applied in group B proved to be more effective based on the performance during the competitive period which was significantly better than in group A (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS: Effectiveness of the training process of skilled junior female ski racers within a full-year conditioning cycle depends on identification of stable and variable indicators of sports mastery. Adjustment of the training process allows the improvement of general and special physical endurance, functional fitness, general and special physical fitness, energy system capacity, and overall competitive performance. Practical implication is seen in perfection of the training process of junior female skiers based on theoretical principles and experimental data obtained in the research.
