Primary squamous carcinoma of the breast: a case report

Squamous carcinoma of the breast is a rare, seldom reported form of cancer. It has been speculated that these tumors may originate from squamous metaplasia induced by a chronic inflammatory process. Nevertheless, the etiology of this condition remains unclear. In this article, a case of primary squamous carcinoma of the breast is reported. The patient was seen at the gynecology clinic of the Escola Superior de Ciências, Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The entire management of this patient is described from diagnosis of the carcinoma until the positive outcome following surgical and oncological treatment.
