Perineurioma is an uncommon tumor of the perineurium of nerves; cranial bones are rarely involved. The authors report the case of a 14-year-old children with a slow-growing lesion of occipital cranial bone that was surgically removed; pathological examination was perineurioma. The clinical presentation, neuroimaging findings and pathological characteristics of perineurioma are discussed. A review of the literature confirmed the very rare localization of this kind of neoplasm in cranial vault bone; to authors’ knowledge this is the first case reported.
