Role of structured exercise training programs for older subjects A systematic review

This study aim is a systematic review for the role of structured exercise training programs for older subjects. A screening for published trials from 1996 y to 2012 November was taken into account on PubMed database. The key words and heading used in the searches were: older women health exercise programs; abstract available; randomized controlled trial; publication dates; humans and language English. Overall, thirty-nine articles were analyzed. After eligibility criteria application, the final sample consisted in 13 articles. The included studies showed at the training protocol, aerobic exercises, balance, strength and agility. The programs emphasize exercises that leverage systems that are more attacked with the aging process and the benefits that exercise causes this population studies recommend the periodicity of 2 to 5 times a week.
