Stratification of sudden cardiac death risk after acute myocardial infarction
Incardona V. M., Dato E., Dato A. G.
Centro di Diagnostica Cardiovascolare del Dott. Dato Achille Giuseppe & C. S.a.s.,Paternò, Catania
Many patients who survive an acute myocardial infarction remain at risk of recurrent cardiac events and sudden cardiac death, despite optimal medical treatment. Assessment of the left ventricular dysfunction and residual myocardial ischaemia is useful to identify the patients at greatest risk. A lot of cardiovascular tests, like ECG-based tests, Holter-based recordings, echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance can be useful in risk stratification for malignant ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.
