Tolosa-Hunt syndrome (THS) is a painful ophthalmoplegia with granulomatous inflammation of the cavernous sinus, orbital apex, or superior orbital fissure that involves the oculomotor nerve, the first two branches of the trigeminal nerve, and the abducens nerve. An association between THS and diabetes has been described; however, there are limited numbers of cases reporting a relation between the phenomenon of THS and diabetes preceding facial palsy. An uncommon co-incidence of Tolosa-Hunt syndrome with facial palsy in a diabetic patient has been reported.
