The physician-patient relation and the therapeutic adherence
Rotondo L., Robustelli C.
S.C. di Medicina e Chirurgia d’Urgenza ed Accettazione, Az. Ospedaliero-Universitaria “Ospedali Riuniti”, Foggia, Italia
The authors develop the concept of therapeutic adherence versus that of compliance, describe the most credited theories in regard to determinant factors of therapeutic adherence and the most credited models to improve the relation between physicians and patients. They finally describe the bio-medical model and the bio-psycho-social one, today retained more correct and complete, which considers besides the organic event the perception of the patient in regard to that event.
