Renal cell carcinoma diagnosed by cervical vertebrae metastases in a 36-year-old male patient: a case report
Argyropoulos A., Gkialas I., Lykourinas M.
Department of Urology, Athens General Hospital ‘’G.Gennimatas’’, Athens, Greece
A case of a 36-year-old man with metastatic renal cell cancer (MRCC) is presented. The patient was examined because of a blunt trauma in the cervical spine after an accidental fall. Imaging studies revealed the presence of a lesion in the cervical and odontoid vertebrae. Biopsy showed the presence of adenocarcinoma. A CT scan verified the presence of a neoplasm of the right kidney and the tumor was excised. The patient is in good condition one year after the operation, having completed neoadjuvant immunotherapy. To our knowledge, this is the first report of presentation of such a tumor in a young patient without any previous symptoms, and no evidence of extension in the renal vein and inferior vena cava.
