Emergency ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy: experience in a department of internal medicine
Nifosì G.
U.O. di Medicina Interna - Oncoematologia, Azienda Ospedaliera Gravina, Caltagirone (Catania)
In the practice of Clinical Medicine, some clinical situations require a definite diagnosis and initiation of treatment as soon as possible. Such emergencies can be due to the presence of a suspected neoplastic mass or fluid collection or a deeply located abscess in immunocompromised patients. This can be often done by means of ultrasound guided fine needle biopsy and drainage performed on deeply located lesions. These techniques have high efficacy and safety in these situations.
