The leishmaniasis is a disease that is occasionally transmitted to humans by the bite of sandfly vectors. The clinical course is conditioned by the cytokines that are secreted by the immune system in the course of infection. There can be two distinct eventualities, but they are both closely related to the activation of related CD4 + effector T cells, responsible for specific recognition of antigens presented by macrophages and the activation and regulation of cell mediated immunity.
