Preliminary evaluation study of fractional laser versus fractional laser plus radiofrequency for the treatment of acne scars and photoaging

Istituto Dermatologico San Gallicano, IRCCS, Roma
The therapeutic approach for the treatment of acne scars and photoaging varies according to the type of lesion. Traditional CO2 laser, highly used in the past, is associated with prolonged healing times, persistent erythema and high risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Therefore is currently used the fractional laser technology that involves the application of microscopic beams of pixilated light which induce small, focal zones of tissue injury surrounded by normal tissue. In this study we evaluated and compared the results obtained with CO2 fractional laser and with CO2 fractional laser plus radiofrequency by means of clinical evaluation and confocal laser.
