Small nodular sarcoidosi: description of a clinical case

Spataro A., Melis L., Pala S.

The authors present a case of small nodular sarcoidosis, an unusual variant of a rare multisystem disorder, characterized by the formation of non-caseating epithelioid granulomas in histiocytic system hosting organs, because of overactive Th1 immunological response to unknown antigen. Lung involvement is very frequent; the skin location of the disease is observed in 40-50% of patients. For the evolution of the disease, potentially involving other organs and systems, the importance of differential diagnosis with other morphologically similar dermatoses is also considered.
