Photodynamic therapy is a highly efficacious, well tolerated, non-invasive selective method that has produced optimal aesthetic results in the treatment of multiple actinic keratosis, Bowen’s disease, and superficial basal cell epithelioma. Its application has been extended to inflammatory diseases such as morphea, lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, acne, HPV-induced lesions such as common warts and condylomata, and trophic skin ulcers. In this series of 10 patients (seven with Bowen’s disease, one with anal Paget’s disease, one with anal and vulvar bowenoid papulosis, one with grade 1 vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia), red-light photodynamic therapy (630 nm) was delivered in 3-5 sessions. The method is described and the treatment results are discussed with reference to currently available published data.
