Darier-like epidermal naevus: clinical and ultrastructural evidence
Cannavò S. P. 1, Bonifati A. 1, Cavallari V. 2
1 Università degli Studi - Messina, Istituto di Dermatologia; 2 Dipartimento di Patologia Umana (analisi ultrastrutturale)
This report focuses on the ultrastructural pattern of a case of Darier-like epidermal naevus observed in a 48-year-old woman. In this case a diffuse basal acantholysis with lacunae at the cell periphery and near the nucleus are pointed out. Moreover an interesting pathogenetic hypothesis is stressed. Finally, the importance of further histological and genetic studies is emphasized in order to attempt to systematize this subtle chapter of acantholytic diseases, often defined with various synonymous terms.
