Biliary complication and spontaneous hemoperitoneum in a coinfected CMV-CoV-2 oncologic patient submitted to major biliary surgery

CMV infection is present in about 30% of young adults in developed countries and its prevalence increase to >60% in the elderly. The infection/reactivation of CMV in CoV-2 patients have been recently outlined in some patients and can cause hemorrhagic complications. We report a case of spontaneous massive hemorrhagic shock in a coinfected CMV and CoV-2. Due to the worst outcome of surgical patients showing a CoV-2 infection and since the possibility of a reactivation of CMV, we propose a CMV screening for oncologic patients to submit to major surgical intervention.
