Gastric lipomas are extremely rare, benign, mesenchymal tumors of the stomach. Gastric lipomas constitute <3% of benign gastric tumors and <1% of all gastric tumors. Although they are generally small and asymptomatic, they sometimes reach giant sizes. Giant gastric lipomas (≥4 cm) are even more unusual. They may cause abdominal pain, bleeding, or obstruction. Only a few cases have been reported, presenting large in size with pyloric obstruction in the literature. In this study, we aimed to present two new patients who underwent laparoscopic resection for giant gastric lipomas, one having a size of 4.5 cm and the other having a size of 7 cm. Since gastric lipomas exhibit benign behavior, limited surgical resection with minimally invasive approach is sufficient in symptomatic patients. We report these cases to present initial diagnostic challange and discuss feasibility of minimally invasive surgery for giant gastric lipomas causing obstructive symptomatology.
