Despite rarity of the obturator hernias in the general population, that is one important cause of the intestinal obstruction, especial it occurs in elderly. The diagnosis and the treatment are often delayed, because symptoms are not specific, lead to elevate morbidity and mortality. The preoperative computed tomography often can establish correct diagnosis of the obturator hernia. An early diagnosis and surgical treatment are essential for the correct treatment of this rare eventuality.
