Modified shunt-shuffle technique for intracoronary shunt for off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery
Agostini M., Fino C., Boffini M., Grossi C.
Department of Cardiovascular Surgery Santa Croce Hospital, Cuneo, Italy
“Shunt shuffle” technique was proposed to allow a rapid, atraumatic and easy insertion of intracoronary shunt for off-pump coronary artery bypass. In this technique, when the arteriotomy is performed on a large coronary artery, a large blood flow can make a precise incision of the vessel difficult and can lead to a significant blood loss. We describe a modification to this technique which allows a precise arteriotomy to be performed in a bloodless field.
