Cardiac myxoma arising from the mitral valve is extremely rare. A thorough survey of the literature indicates that only 39 cases of mitral valve myxoma have been reported. We describe a case of 66-year-old woman with chronic renal failure who was hospitalized due to exertional dyspnea. A mass attached to the anterior leaflet of mitral valve was accidently found on echocardiography. Surgical excision was performed and the pathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of myxoma. Additionally, a brief clinical review has been attempted in these reported cases.
