Cystic struma ovarii. A report of eleven cases
Safioleas M., Dimitroulis D. A., Papachristodoulou A., Diab A., Toufexi E., Andromanakos N.
Struma Ovarii represents 3% as a variety of teratomas of the ovary. This very uncommon malformation was at first described by Van Kalden in 1895. The majority of struma ovarii cases is benign and only 5-10% of these cases is malignant. In particular, only 40% of the malignant cystic ovarii cases has been associated with extraovarian dissemination. The objective of this report is to present our experience associated with eleven cases of struma ovarii and to review the pertinent international literature on this subject.
