Cutaneous neurilemmona of the dorsal wrist. A case report

Farace F., Belcher H.

PDF

A rare case of benign cutaneous neurilemmoma of the dorsum of the wrist in a 40-year-old man is presented. The patient was referred with a 1 year history of a solitary lump on the dorsum of his right wrist. Enbloc excision and direct closure resolved the associated pain. Histological examination of the specimen demonstrated the typical characteristics of a benign schwannoma with the presence of the 2 Antoni areas. There are no signs of recurrence after 1 year of follow-up. Our case of purely intradermal epithelioid schwannoma is noteworthy because of its location. To our knowledge it is the first case described on the extensor aspect of the wrist.
