A case of severe insufficiency of the first metatarsal
Centaro G., Ferro L.
S.C. Ortopedia e Traumatologia Azienda Ospedaliera S. Croce e Carle, Cuneo
We described a case of severe insufficiency of first ray due to necrosis of first metatarsal head and necrosis of the base of the hallux proximal phalanx, secondary to Regnauld (1) surgical operation for correction of hallux valgus. Between many possibilities of treatment, we chose the “proximal phalanx metatarsalization” to obtain a good reconstruction in length of first metatarsal. From results at a distance, we found good results both anatomical and functional.
