Relationship between metatarsal pseudoarthrosis and cavo-valgus foot. Observations and treatment

Prina P., Franceschini R.

PDF

A case of non-union following metatarsal fractures is described: factors such as cavo-valgus foot, hardware choice and early weight-bearing contributed to this result. The relationship among cavovalgus foot, pronation syndrome and its biomechanics, instability based hypertrophic non-union, are pointed out. In the discussion the possible correlations are examined and the reasons of the treatment choice, along with the first results at 60 days follow-up are described.
