Extensive salivary duct carcinoma of submandibular gland: a rare entity

Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is a rare aggressive malignancy primarily found in the major salivary glands, especially parotid and rarely found in minor salivary glands. SDC primarily occur in the fifth and sixth decades of life with male predilection. These tumors are characterized by aggressive clinical behavior, with early nodal involvement and high rates of local recurrence. Therefore a multimodal approach of complete surgical excision with adjuvant radiation is required. We report a case of salivary duct carcinoma arising from submandibular gland and its successful management.
