Vestibular system in control of mean blood pressure and cardiac rhythm

The vestibular system, examining head position and its movements, has the function to forward important information to CNS for adjustment of blood pressure and systemic ventilation during the changing of body position. A sort of central compensation starts when there is a compromise of the vestibular system, permitting it to calibrate sensorial inputs that remain unchanged in the correction of neurovegetative manifestations that control blood pressure. Literature reports that vestibular signal can affect the control of the mean blood pressure and cardiovascular reflex. Vestibular suppression can lead to a difficulty in the mean blood pressure management during sharp postural change and spatial readjustment of corporal segments. Future studies could go deeper into the effects of vestibular disfunction on Autonomous Nervous System in peculiar clinical circumstances.
