Internal jugular phlebectasia. A case report and review of literature

Internal jug­u­lar phle­bec­ta­sia is a ­very ­rare ­venous anom­a­ly usu­al­ly pre­sent­ing as a uni­lat­er­al ­neck swell­ing on exer­tion. colour Doppler ultra­so­nog­ra­phy is the diag­nos­tic inves­ti­ga­tion of ­choice. Conservative man­age­ment is rec­om­mend­ed in uncom­pli­cat­ed cas­es. We ­present a ­case of inter­nal jug­u­lar phle­bec­ta­sia and a ­review of the lit­er­a­ture. The usu­al as ­well as unusu­al clin­i­cal pres­en­ta­tions, aetio­lo­gy, pathol­o­gy and man­age­ment are dis­cussed.
