Photodynamic therapy and plaque phase mycosis fungoides
Fernández-Guarino M., Jaén P. ✉
Ramón y Cajal Hospital, University of Alcalá, Alcalá, Madrid, Spain
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been applied in the last years for the treatment of plaque mycosis fungoides (MF) with promising results. PDT is very useful in the management of patients with few plaques of MF unresponsive to other topical treatments or in patients with plaques in difficult to treat areas in which cosmetic outcome is important. PDT achieves similar results to other treatments and it is safe and well tolerated. Despite the simplicity of the technique optimal treatment parameters have not yet been defined. This article is a review of the literature of PDT and MF.
