Evaluation of the efficacy of Trixia® trichological lotion in patients with androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium
Melli M. C., Giorgini S.
Dipartimento di Scienze Dermatologiche, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Firenze
Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of a new trichological lotion (Trixia®) in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) (females) and telogen effluvium (TE) (males and females) in terms of control of hair loss and hair regeneration.
Methods. An open study was carried out on 45 patients. Nine-teen patients (43%) were women suffering from 1st degree (Ludwig) AGA, 2 (5%) were women with 2nd degree AGA, and the remaining 24 patients (13 males and 11 females), equal to 52%, presented with TE. A follow-up period of 30 days with no specific treatment was envisaged at the end of the study. At T0 and at each subsequent control after 4 and 12 weeks (T4, T12) the following evaluations of efficacy were made: pull test, trichogram, hair evaluation, wash test and daily count.
Results. The results showed significant improvements (p<0.01) in the trichogram, pull test, wash test and daily count for both the patients with AGA and those with TE. There were considerable improvements in the fragility, combability and shininess of the patients’ hair.
Conclusion. Therefore the lotion seems indicated for the treatment of weak and thin hair with a high fall-out tendency: it can also be considered a valid support in case of TE and female AGA where it would act as an inductor anagen.
