Becker’s nevus associated with ipsilateral breast hypoplasia

Becker’s nevus or Becker’s melanosis appears as a pigmented spot localised generally at the trunk while skin is thickened with soft edges. Affected skin can exhibit hair and acneiform papulopustular lesions. Associations with bone alterations, muscular and connective tissue hamartomata, acne and hirsutism are especially observed in females. The possibility that Becker’s nevus could be associated to a mammary gland hypoplasia is rarely reported. This association could be related to an androgen-estrogen receptorial disequilibrium in the affected area. The case of a young twelve year-old female patient, affected by Becker’s nevus and homolateral mammary hypoplasia is described and the possible role of hormonal alterations in this pathology is discussed.
