Atlas of endoscopic ultrasound

Endoscopic UltraSound (EUS) is a minimally invasive endoscopic examination which has enabled in the last 30 years considerable progressin the evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract walls and nearby organs and structures (mainly mediastinum, pancreas and retroperitoneum). Today EUS is a leading technique in the field of GI oncology, mainly for pre-therapeutic staging of GI cancers and for the diagnosis and staging of biliopancreatic diseases. But at present we must recognize the increasing role of EUS also in pulmonary medicine (lung cancer
and mediastinal pathology) and in interventional therapies. Both these new applications are extensively covered in two specific chapters of this Atlas.
Beginners and experts endosonographers, but also clinicians who have to deal with EUS indications or just curious guys will find interesting cues and notions in this book. A rich collection of images in full color, with precise representations of correlative endoscopy and color-Doppler images, will help readers to understand basic principles and EUS anatomy and to interpret the images of an extensive mass of pathologies that can be diagnosed and staged by EUS.
