OBJECTIVE: The objective is to study multidrug resistance-associated protein 1 (MRP1) expression of peripheral blood of children intractable epilepsy.
METHODS: Sixty children with epilepsy admitted to outpatient and inpatient of Xuzhou Children's Hospital from November 2010 to October 2011, are divided into refractory epilepsy group and drug control group, 30 cases each Select 30 healthy children who went to hospital for health examination as control group in the same year. Use reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot to determine peripheral blood MRP1, mRNA, and protein content of 3 groups.
RESULT: MRP1 expression of refractory epilepsy group is significantly higher than that of epilepsy group with good drug control and control group, all the difference have statistical significance （P ＜ 0.05 ）: there is no significant difference of the comparison between drug well-controlled epilepsy group and the control group（P ＞ 0.05).
CONCLUSION: MRP1 expression of peripheral blood of patients with refractory epilepsy increases.
