Biomaterial is one of the most rapidly expanding fields in medical industry. With the increasing concern and consideration of healthcare towards the public, scientists from the field of material science have tended to exploit novel biotechnologies for producing the biomaterials including microcapsules in order to satisfy the need from the users. Here we have reviewed the past history of microcapsule development and its versatile application. Additionally, we also make use of the microencapsulation technology to encapsulate the poor soluble celecoxib into the ingestible chitosan (a linear polysaccharide) shell. In conclusion, we believe that the development of the microcapsules related biomaterials as a safe drug delivery model may help to improve the therapeutic actions of the conventional drug from the convenience and absorption point of view.
