Starting ­with ­games, ­and ­then pass­ing ­through ­fun, train­ing ­and ­research ­the qual­ity of repro­duc­tion of real­ity a sim­u­la­tor ­can ­give increas­es. The ­STN driv­ing sim­u­la­tor ­uses orig­i­nal ­car equip­ment, a ­motion ­system, a ­three mon­i­tor or a 180° dis­play to ­give a com­plete ­and realis­tic sim­u­la­tion of driv­ing. The driv­ing sim­u­la­tor ­can be ­used suc­cess­ful­ly in sev­er­al stag­es of ­the reha­bil­i­ta­tion pro­cess: ­restart of driv­ing expe­ri­ence, ­decrease of inhi­bi­tion thresh­old, behav­i­ou­ral train­ing, co-ordi­na­tion train­ing, han­dling of ordi­nary ­and of dan­ger­ous sit­u­a­tions, eval­u­a­tion of ­blood pres­sure ­and puls­es dur­ing driv­ing, prov­o­ca­tion of traf­fic sce­nar­ios, debrief­ing ­and reflec­tion. The train­er ­can ­choose dif­fer­ent sce­nar­ios ­and ­options (­type of ­roads, ­type of traf­fic, envi­ron­men­tal sit­u­a­tions ­and so on).
