Median sternotomy is the most commonly used method in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Advanced age, obesity, diabetes, renal insufficiency, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, osteoporosis, and harvesting bilateral internal mammary artery are risk factors for sternal dehiscence. To overcome sternal dehiscence some surgical techniques and surgical equipment are designed. Nitinol thermoreactive clips is one of them. We report the case of two patients with sternal dehiscence and multiple risk factors undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting.
