It is difficult to diagnose these less common, but nonetheless life-threatening, traumatic diaphragm injuries. Diaphragm hernia should be repaired at the time of diagnosis to decrease the risk of complications. The aim in surgical treatment is to place the organs in normal anatomical position and to repair the diaphragm. In accordance with the recognized advantages of minimal surgery, laparoscopic exploration and repair have been found effective and safe methods of evaluating associated organ injury in stable cases that avoid the need to make long incisions that may lead to complications. In this report, we present a case of acute diaphragmatic hernia caused by a thoracic penetrating trauma, which was diagnosed by palpation and treated laparoscopically.
